A timed cycling challenge through the heart of historic and scenic Virginia. A special mid-week event in accordance with the UCI World Championships in Richmond. 22, 60 and 102-mile course options.
The Gran Fondo Virginia will explore the rolling hills, lush scenery and vineyards of Albemarle County, Virginia - birthplace and home of U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe.
For 2015, we are running the event on Thursday, September 24th in accordance with the schedule for the 2015 UCI World Cycling Championships, held in nearby Richmond. We hope that you will attend this world class event that is coming to the U.S. for only the second time in 100 years, and make the short one-hour drive up to Charlottesville to ride in the Gran Fondo Virginia!
Thursday Spetember 24th is a rest day in the Worlds schedule. Consider coming to Virginia for the final weekend, and stopping off to ride our event. You'll find hotel room availability and lower rates in beautiful and historic Charlottesville as well!
Route Timing, Neutral Technical Support, Rest Stops featuring local produce and a post-ride party will all contribute to what is sure to become another enduring Virginia tradition!
